Terra Vital – for Healthy Soils and Sustainable Use

A central project that SWICA supports together with the WWF is Terra Vital. It aims to maintain healthy soils and design land use in a way that benefits both nature and people.

The project consists of two pillars:

Moor Protection: Moors are valuable habitats for endangered animal and plant species – and important CO₂ storage. In the WWF moor protection project, moor areas are revitalized or maintained by volunteers. Measures such as clearing bushes or maintaining small bodies of water enhance the ecological value of moors. At the same time, these activities promote movement in nature – and thus the health of the participants.

More Sustainable Agriculture: The WWF works with farmers on the gradual transition to a resource-conserving and healthy form of agriculture. Topics such as crop rotation, soil-friendly methods, avoiding pesticides, and circular economy are at the center.
